There are almost 33,000 sanctuaries in Tamil Nadu, and the vast majority of these are a concentrate in glory, plushness, and size. No big surprise the southern state is popular for its sanctuaries and is even known as the place where there is sanctuaries. Sri Ranganathaswamy Sanctuary, Trichy

This is perhaps of the biggest sanctuary in India. It is colossal to the point that it seems like a self encased city. As the name proposes, is committed to Ranganatha and has a 73 m high gopuram (tower), which is one of the tallest sanctuary towers in Asia! The well known Vaishnava sanctuary is underlying the Dravidian style of design.

Thillai Nataraja Sanctuary, Chidambaram

At Thillai Nataraja Sanctuary, Ruler Shiva is adored as Chidambaram, the notorious Nataraja structure. Jambukeswarar Sanctuary, Tiruchirappalli
